Chialing Art operates as a social enterprise structured as a limited liability company, strategically combining commercial sustainability with meaningful social impact objectives. This innovative venture represents a unique combination of an offline art bookstore with café facilities and an online art insight sharing platform, creating a comprehensive cultural ecosystem that serves both local and international communities.
Chialing Art’s offline component takes the form of a bookstore with a café area for beverages and light meals in the main urban area of Chongqing, the only municipality in Southwest China. Meanwhile, the online component provides a platform for members of the worldwide art community, with overseas Chinese art students serving as the initial core group, to publish their ideas, research, reviews, critiques, and other articles on art.
Chialing Art aims to creatively combine the needs of art students and practitioners from all over the world for a platform to express their artistic views and research, and the needs of Chongqing for art and reading, to expand the local and global art scene and cross-cultural dialogue through one platform. Chialing Art’s uniqueness lies in its dual-platform approach that bridges physical and digital spaces, its focus on amplifying underrepresented voices in art academia, and its commitment to contributing to Chongqing’s cultural development whilst fostering meaningful cross-cultural understanding through community engagement and scholarly exchange.
